Basic training
An outline for Squad and Platoon leaders to give to new members
1. Clear your titles: This is done by hitting ESC going to your profile and under your name there is a drop down menu. Set this to "No Title".
2.How to join the game: Others are already in battle so to keep from disturbing the chat and operations here is the way you should join.
a.Log on to TS3
b.Log on to game
c.Open outfit and filter on platoon
d.If none found, ask for an open slot in TS3, do NOT ask for an invite
e.Bring up the map, locate the continent yourself, do not ask what continent
f.If you need a transfer, state your current number and requested destination (Move alpha 3 to charlie please)
3.Redeployment: Moving quickly around the battlefield is tough to get the hang of. Here are some ways we use to quicken our movement.
a.Delete Key - Brings up redeploy screen in 10 seconds if you do not take damage
b./suicide in chat - Brings up redeploy screen immediately
c.Spawn beacon - How to cert it, how to use it, Explain resupply requirement
d.Squad Deploy Button: Hit 'm' bottom left corner. This Air drops you to squad leader's location or dead body. It is not available to MAX units.
"Pill Pop Technique" Squad deploying when the SL tells you it's time.(listen to SL, don't pop early!)
e.Insert Key - Deploys to closest spawn point, semi-reliable, used only when joining a server
4.Comms and Following orders
a.YOU are responsible for the success of your squad leader, not vice-versa
b.Memorize your squad and number! Rememorize if moved!
c.Avoid saying "I". "I'm heading to point A" is wrong, "Delta 2 heading to point A" instead. It's hard to distinguish voices in the chaos.
d.What clear comms means and why someone calls for it.
e.Yellow vs Green waypoint (mention blue waypoint for air platoons). If in doubt, go green.
f.Use squad chat, let squad leaders relay to platoon that which is important
g.Use TS3 only when comms are broken and then only sparingly
h.Confirm simple orders with a "copy", confirm more complex orders by repeating them and/or noting your name/number. Example, "copy, bravo 2 pulling a sundy"
i.Give status updates. Bad news is good news because it is news! SL need info to make decisions.
j.Specify direction! Enemy X north of vertical generator. Enemy X to the north implies "from the waypoint or center of attack/defense"
5.Sunderers
a.Sunderers are the key to any offense. Sustain an offense with them. Stop an offense by killing them.
b.If you spawn by a sunderer then abort all other orders and defend it. Notify the squad leader, switch to engineer to repair and man the guns.
c.If a sunderer is spotted, report it, attack it.
d.As a rule with exceptions, prepared to load into a sunderer "when the fat lady sings" (when you hear the "you've got this" or other voice indicating a base cap/defense is nearly complete)
e.If you see an enemy sunderer, notify the squad leader. Give specifics
6.Classes and Certs.
If a squad leader asks you to choose a role, you should never have to say, "I can't do that". There is a minimum you must have for ALL roles before focusing on the ones you like best. These are:
a.AMS, Squad beacon, Squad waypoint
b.Heavies should have lock on rockets
c.MAXes should have dual bursters, dual AI guns, and a Aegis
d.Engineers should have an AV turret and Mines
e.Medics must have enough heal to stop an immediate re-kill
f.Infiltrators must hack and deploy bettys
g.Light assaults should have a C4
